Comments, Media and Cookies

Logging into a website, leaving comments and sharing pictures or other media on a website can result in users leaving traces of personal data. Leaving comments can offer you the opportunity to opt-in to saving your details, such as name, email address and website in cookies. These cookies last for up to one year and are for your convenience, so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. Login cookies normally save details such as your login details and screen display settings. By default I do not ask users to login to use our site and commenting on our webpages and posts is turned off. This prevents users from leaving personal data in these ways.

Embedded content from other websites

If a website contains embedded content form other websites (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.), that embedded content behaves exactly the same as if the user viewing the content has visited the website that content has come from. Those external websites may collect the user’s data, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor their interaction with the embedded content. If the user has an account with the external website and is logged in to that website, they may further track the user’s interaction with the embedded content.

My site, franceselmerjamesphysio.com.au and its aliases does not currently contain embedded content from other sites, therefore users’ data will not be shared in the ways described.

Contact form data

If you use my contact form, on this page: https://franceselmerjamesphysio.com.au/appointments/ you will submit your name, nominated phone number, email address and any details you chose to leave in the ‘message’ field. That data will be sent automatically, when you hit the ‘submit’ button/enter key, to my email address. It may also be sent to any of the people listed under ‘Who we share your data with’, below, as they may be assisting me with management of my site.

Where your data is sent

Data submitted using my contact form is checked through an automated spam detection service, but the contact form and the spam service do not track users by stealth; send any data to external servers or use cookies.

If you use my contact form, the data that you enter will be stored in the database on the server that hosts this website. The purpose of this data storage is so that it provides a short term backup of the details you provided in your contact with us, in case the email that is sent to me is lost or inadvertently missed, and also to help us manage spam that may evade other spam filters.

How long we retain your data

We will periodically manually delete all data submitted using the contact form. You can also ask us to delete your data at any time and we will do so promptly.

Site backups

My site is regularly backed up to a secure cloud storage account. Security for the transfer of the site data to the backup account is provided via an OAuth communication flow protocol which requires an authentication token to pass through an external authentication server. No personally identifiable information is stored, or processed, by any party as part of the authentication procedure.

What rights you have over your data

You can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us using the methods described above. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you (other than any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes).

Deletion of data from site backups

Your data may be retained in site backups for a period of time after it has been deleted from my live site. You can request that we delete any duplicates of your data made in this way and we will endeavor to do so promptly, however we ask that you be mindful that technical constraints may cause a slight delay with the deletion of this data.

Who we share your data with

This site is administered Frances Elmer-James with assistance from two Tasmanian sole trader businesses: Bright South (https://brightsouth.com.au) and Outreach Ecology (https://outreachecology.com/).

We treat any and all data you share with us confidentially. It is not and will not be shared with anyone else without your prior consent.
